The bar chart illustrates the number of male and female students who studied six art-related courses at a UK university in 2011.
Overall, the number of female students studying art-related subjects was higher than the number of male students, with the proportion of 250 being the highest and 50 being the lowest. This means females outnumbered males in the most disciplines although, the gender gap for each subject was not significant.
Although, the proportion of females studying art subjects was significantly higher than males in general, in the art and design course males were approximately 200 as females were just over 150.However, in the philosophy course the number of female students were around 150, despite the number of male students which was 50.
The only subject that both male and female students proportion was higher than 200, was the English language and Literature. With the numbers of between 200 and 250, and 200 in male and female students respectively.
