The bar chart provides information about the percentage of men and women in Malaysia who are do physical activity daily. Overall, it is interesting to note that the proportion of Malaysian women who engage in physical exercise on a regular basis is higher in all age than Malaysian men brackets except for the teenegers. Moreover, the share of rarely exercising men experience the lowest figure in the 35 to 44 age group while the highest levels for women are recorded for the ages 35 to 64.
Gender differences in physical activity participation quantity are quite striking in the first age groups. 15-24 is the only age category where more Malaysian men are associated with exercise than women, with the former represent nearly 55% an the latter around 47%. In contrast, 25-34-year-old women do more physical exercise compared to men who are in the same age group at just under half and just over two-fifths respectively. In this line, around 40% of Malaysian men who are in 35 to 44 age exercise regularly and women are in the same age group showed the highest level with 52%.
Similarly, the percentage of women aged 45 to 54 and 55 to 64 amount to around 55% while the shares of Malaysian men who are at the same ages make up roughly 10% less than women. Finally, about 45% of men and women are reported to take up exercise when they are 65 or older, and it is the only age group which exercise participation level is relatively equal between both genders.
