Overall, except for walking, swimming, and rugby, all other sports decreased. Besides, the proportion of walking enthusiasts exceeded others over the period shown.
In all three years, walking was consistently gained the largest vote among the six sports, accounting for nearly 41% in 1995, then it rose further to 42% over the next 5 years and reached a high of approximately 44% by 2005. As for swimming and rugby, both sports recorded a similar fluctuation over the given period, reaching the same level of 23% in the first year before peaking at 28% in 2000. Yet, the figure dropped gradually and ended the period at 25% in 2005.
In contrast, the percentage of snooker admirers stood at 30% in 1995, but after 5 years, it had already reduced to just 21% and rose slightly to 23% until 2005. For the remaining sports, the popularity of tennis experienced a moderate trend. Despite its percentage was virtually 28% in 1995, there was a minor diminish to 23% in 2000 and remained constant thereafter. Finally, golf fans dropped from a modest figure initially, just about 15% to the smallest one at 13% by 2000 and grew again to 14% at the end.
