The chart illustrates the share of total world production in Asia, Europe, and the rest of world over the period from 1840 to 2000.
Overall, it is clear that Europe was taking predominantly a leading position in the total amount, except the beggining and the end. Asia, took the first place initially, however was surpassed by Europe during the the measurement of the time, and rose significantly in conclusion. Moreover, rest of the world made up the smallest score firstly, but remained stable throughout the years.
Regarding Asia, it was a leader in 1840, gaining the highest score at nearly 53%. During next decades, it experienced a tendecy to slight decline, with 33% in 1880, 27% in 1920, 23% in 1960. In contast, in next twenty years Asia rose quickly to 43%. In conrast, Europe took the second place of the total production with 38% at the start and was slowly increasimg during a century, reaching the top at 50% in 1960. However it decreade dramatically to less than 30% in 2000.
On the other hand, rest of the world gained the lowest share at 10% in 1840, rapidly grew to 25% in 1880 and stayed approximately steady for the time of the measurement.
