The graph illustrates the rate of three types of crimes in England and Wales between 1970 and 2005 years.
Overall, what stands out from graph is that the number of incidents had grown by the 2005. At the same time it is easy to see that while one type of crime had steady increase, other had undergone fluctuations.
For example, speaking about car theft, there is a top on 1995 when the number of incidents reached significant 1.6 from 0.4 in 1970 and after that there was sharp decrease until the end of the period in question when data shows 1.0. Similar situation with burglary had happend in 1980 when the number of insidents became between 0.8 and 1.0. It is the highest point during the period for this type but during the next 20 years was not steady. Diminution was accompanied by slight jump in 1990 after decrease to 0.65 in 1985. Data about burglary shows drop in the 2005 what still higher than in the start with 0.2.
Robbery was the less developed type of crime – there was negligible increase between 1970 and 1995 from 0.0 to approximately 0.1, then there was rising in 2000 then the numbers became 0.1 and it had been kept until 2005.
