The bar chart illustrates how the leisure time spent on six different recreational activities varied between groups aged 15 to 19 and those over 75.
Overall, the elders dedicated a large portion of their free time to passive activities including watching TV, reading, relaxing and thinking. In contrast, social pursuits such as: socializing, playing games and participating in physical exercises were a more common trends among the youth. Additionally, both of generations spent most of their time watching TV shows.
Passive activities were common among the old, with watching TV taking the lead, consuming 4.5 hours of their daily day. The youth also favoured TV, but to a lesser extent, with 2.4 hours spent per day. Regarding reading, standing at 1 hours, it was the most second pursuit that the elders prone to participate in, whereas their younger counterparts spent only 12 minutes on this pursuit. Besides those activities, seniors also engaged in relaxing and thinking, with an average of 36 minutes, compared to just 6 minutes for the young.
Active activities, on the other hand, were more tend to be the 15-to-19-year-olds pursuits. In their leisure time, they spent 1.1 hours for computer use, which was doubled their older counterparts (0.5 hours). Similarly, the young groups allocated 0.6 hours to sports every day, triple the elders groups. Conversely, socializing and communicating figure displayed a small divergence, with 0.7-0.8 hours by both age brackets. Nevertheless, the younger group spent slightly more time on this activities.
