The given column graph illustrates the number of girls per 100 boys enrolled in variety levels of offline education – primary, secondary and tertiary levels – 1990 and 1998. The vertical axis represents the number of girls between 0 and 120, and the horizontal axis stand for countries – developing or developed.
The least counts were recorded in the developing countries for all the levels of education. Primary education has shown a slight increase in the years but it does not have much difference in developed countries. In secondary education, it has nearly reached the target of hundred in the developed countries, though it still has a long way to go in the developing countries. Tertiary education has been doing well in educating girls in developed countries which is more than the boys. But it has the lowest recorded numbers in developing countries.
This concluded that only the developed countries have been making huge progress, especially in tertiary education, which has reached the target. The secondary, primary and the developing countries of tertiary education have a long way to go in educating girls and having gender equality.
