Overall, football became the most popular sports throughout 10 years. Another noticeable is that the figure for football, rugby and swimming has witnessed a upward trend over the period while the participants of the others declined.
In 1995, the proportion of football lovers stand at about 40%, which is the highest figure among all the categories, followed by a slightly growth by 4% over the next 4 years. Relatively mirrored that of football, the figure for swimming peaked at nearly 30% before witnessing a fall to 25% at the end of the period. Oppositely, interest in rugby has experienced a steady decrease to under 20% , followed by an ascend to approximately 25% in 2005.
Regarding to the three remaining sports, there was 30% of people who express a preference for snooky, which was closely followed by the figure for tennis, at 29%. Afterwards, both snooky and tennis witnessed a sharply drop to 23% each at the end. Meanwhile, golf also relatively mirrored that trend in levels of interest, with a slight fall by 1% has observed in the year of 2005.
