The chart delineates how much money was spent by French and British people on different five types of products in 2010, with all values measured in pounds sterling.
Overall, both countries’ expenditure was higher in car category, while the least money was spent on perfume. It is also notable that while the British paid more for cars, books and cameras, the French spent more on computers and perfume.
Car was the dominant category for both countries, amounting to 450,000 pounds sterling for the UK compared with 400,000 of that for France. Similarly, the British expended more on books: just over 400,000 pounds sterling, while France’s figure constituted 300,000 pounds sterling. There was a considerable difference in the amount of money spent on cameras: nearly 360,000 pounds sterling for the former and as twice less as (150,000 ponds sterling) for the latter.
By contrast, in the remaining categories France hold the dominance. The figure for computers was approximately 380,000 pounds sterling for it, while for the UK it made up 350,000 pounds sterling. The following category with higher spendings for France was perfume with 200,000 pounds sterling compared with just under 150,000 pounds sterling for the UK.
