The bar chart illustrates yearly cost of office rent in five cities around the world in 2008 and 2013, which is measured in dollars per square metre. On the other hand, the table represents the proportion of office availability in the same cities.
Overall, what stands out from the bar chart that price of the office rent increased in all cities in 2013, whereas office vacancy rates fell down. However, city D is an exception it followed opposite trend.
Looking at the details, in city A the annual price of office rent was just over $1,500, compared to just under $500 in city E in 2008. Whilst the cost of office rent in city B climbed up in 2013 and it reached approximately $2,200, the price of rent in city D made up just over $500. In 2008, the cost of yearly office rent represented $1,000, and then in 2013 it went up by more than $500.
On the other hand, office vacancy rates, in 2008, reached 16 per cent; in contrast, in 2013, it was around 9 per cent. The lowest percentage, in 2013, was in city B, which went down for 5% since 2008. In most cities, office availability rates decreased, when the price of office rent increased, but in city D the fraction of office vacancy went up by 13%.
