The diagram presents the contribution of GDP in the UK industry on two main fields, namely IT and service process.
In general, although both two modes experienced an upward trend as a percentage of total GTP, the IT industry almost had a noticeable higher rates than the component of the services sector combined.
In the primary year, in 1992, the IT industry accounted for just over 6% of total GDP, which was higher by 2% than the service industry. For the next two years, both sectors showed a growing dynamics by 2% (IT) and nearly 2.5%(services) to reach at over 8% and 6% in turn. The proportion of the service industry continued to increase minimally to 7%, while that for the IT segment declined marginally in 1996.
Over the remained 4-year period, there was a considerable difference between the IT and the service industry of GDP rates. While the former rose quite sharply to 12% in 1998, followed by another moderate incline to reach a high of 3% in 2000, the latter grew only slightly by about overall 1% with 0.5% for the each 2-year span to reach at 8% in the final year.
