The bar chart demonstrated the population of three cities, namely Jakarta, Shanghai, and Sao Paulo, throughout the decade from 1990 to 2000. Additionally, this paragraph compared the actual data in 2000 of these cities with the expected data for that year.
Overall, Sao Paulo had the largest number of citizens, while Jakarta’s population was the smallest among the three cities.
As can be seen clearly, there was a significant increase in the population size of Jakarta and Sao Paulo in 2000 compared to 1990. In 1990, the population of Jakarta was recorded to be approximately 8 million, while the data for Sao Paulo was reported to be 17 million. Ten years later, the population of Jakarta rose to 11 million. Meanwhile, the population size of Sao Paulo enlarged to 21 million, nearly 1.2 times higher than that of 1990. However, the growth of population in these cities did not meet the expectation, which is anticipated to reach 13 and 24 million for Jakarta and Sao Paulo, respectively.
On the contrary, the figure for Shanghai witnessed a downward trend. Despite being predicted to increase to 15 million people in 2000, the population of Shanghai experienced a slight drop to 11 million, nearly the same as that of Jakarta.
