Looking first at cities with predictions of growth in population, the number of people in Jakarta were 8 millions in 1990, with a subsequent prediction to increase to 11 millions in 2000 but it increased considerably more than 1 millions in actual figures. 17 millions people live in Sao Paolo in 1990, after which it were projected to rise to 22 millions in the next 10 years. However, the figure for Sao Paolo saw a steady increase to 24 millions.
Turning to the city that was forecast to decline, the figure for residents in Shanghai started at 12 millions in 1990, followed by a prediction to drop by 1 millions in 10 years later. Nevertheless, the citizens in Shanghai increased remarkably to 15 millions by the end of the period.
