Overall expenses by those stubborn were allocated to food, bills, household goods, essential travel, non-essential travel, children, course expenditure,entertainment a d others with entertainment having the highest category while children had the lowest across the years.
Initially from the figure, the percentage of students spending on entertainment increased from 26% to 31% in 1999. The second proportion on accommodation went from 23% in 1999 to 20% in 1996. Similarly, the percentage of expenditure on food,bills abs household goods increased from 20% in 1996 to a decrease of 18% in 1999. The other category stayed at 12% after increasing to 16%. In 1999, expenses on essential travel grew to 6% in 1999 but reduced to 4% in 1996. With the three remaining groups, students expenditure on children was the lowest with 2% in 1996 and 0% in 1999.
Besides, an increase on students expenses was witnessed on essential travel. By contrast, non-essential travel witnessed a slight increase from 3% to 6% in 1999.
