The bar chart compares salt intake of American men and women from different age groups in the year of 2000. Looking from overall perspective, it is readily apparent that majority of age groups regardless of the gender, consumed salt well above the recommended milligrams. However, while salt intake of women over 60 were precisely as much as advised, both boys and girls under 6 ate less than recommended adult salt intake.
Girls under 6 were consuming roughly 1250 milligrams of salt. Surprisingly, salt intake of the next four age brackets for women were ranging between 3000 and 3250. Finally, consuption of salt for women over 60 were 2500 which is the recommended adult salt intake.
Regarding men, in 2000, salt consumption of boys under 6 were slightly above 2000, the following age group’s salt intake was significantly higher at 3500 milligrams. Moreover, males that are between 12 and 19 had been eating 4000 milligrams of salt, while 20 to 39 male age brackets accounted for the highest amount of salt intake at astonishing 4500. Finally, folks between 40 to 60 and over 60 consumed relatively lower milligrams of salt at 4000 and 3500 respectively.
