Overall, it can be seen that both closures and openings were flactuating during the whole period covered in the graph. However, the number of shops that were closed was mainly higher compared with those that were opened.
In 2011, closures started with around 6200, then slightly fell at 200 by 2012. After that, this figure showed a weighty growth to approximately 7100 over a year period, but declined steadily to 6300 in the next year. In 2015, the number of closures experienced a dramatical drop to almost 500, but then rocketed to just above 5000. Additionally, last three years this figure remained the same.
As a chart shows, openings began with about 8500 and decreased gradually over one year time period. After that, it faced a sharp increase to just above 6000, and dropped rapidly to around 4000. Then the amount of shops that were opened stayed constant from 2015 to 2017. Furthermore, it declined to approximately 3000 in 2018.
