The line graph shows trends in shop closures and new openings of shops, in the period from 2011 to 2018 in a particular country.
In 2011, almost 6,500 shops were closed; the period after this number showed a fluctuation before it dropped dramatically in 2015 to about 500 that were closed. In the following year, it rose noticeably to over 5,000, before it remained in a steady line for the rest of the period.
Talking about the openings, at the beginning of the period there was a tremendous amount of shops that had opened, about 8,500 shops. Nevertheless, more than half decreased in 2012, then it increased in constant numbers for the next two years. In 2014, the number of shops that had opened and closed was likely the same, more than 6,000. After this, newly opened shops decreased till the end of the period; in 2018, only 3,000 were opened.
In conclusion, the country has witnessed many fluctuations in shops opening and closing over six years, but in the last three years, the gaps between both were small.
