The bar chart shows the percentage of male and female population aged over fifteen who can read and write in five regions: Africa,America,Asia,Europe and Oceania
Overall Europe and Oceania has the highest rate of literacy for both men and women, while Africa has the lowest. In all regions males have the highest literacy rates than women. Although the difference is small in some areas.
In Africa, only about 38% of females can read and write compared to 61% of males can read and write in Africa. There is also a noticeable gap between the male and female in Asia, approximately 66% of females can read and write compared with 76% of males who can read and write. The rates in America is much more higher where the female is 89% and the male is 90% are able to read and write.
Europe has the highest literacy rate with about 96% of females and 97% of males being literate.Similarly Oceania also has high figures with 91% of females and 92% of males.
