The data illustrates the proportion of homes in owned and rented accommodations in two countries England and Wales over the period from 1918 and 2011.
Overall, it is clear that while the percentage of households in rented accommodation decrease over the period of years, the reverse is true for households in owned accommodation. What is more, rented accommodation had the highest percentage at first, however at the end of the period, owned accommodation held top position.
As for to the rented accommodation experienced decreased over the period, starting at almost 80% in 1918, the proportion of rented accommodation saw a dramatic fall to 68% in 1953. After decreasing noticeably to 30 % over the period 38 years, the figure for rented accommodation witnessed a slight drop in 2001 but then rose to 35% in last year.
When it comes to the proportion of household in owned accommodation started at just 24, a figure that then increased significantly to 32% in 1953. In addition, there was a dramatic rise to under 70% from 1953 to 2001, before dropping minimally at the end of the period.
