The chart compares participation between males and females who are involved in diverse leisure activities in England.
It is immediately apparent that watching TV and spending time with family are the most common activities for both genders while the reverse is true for playing computer games. Additionally, there is a difference in shopping, where the preference rate of men is just under half of women.
In four of the seven categories, there were only minor differences between men and women. Viewing television and devoting time with family hit the highest peak of over 75%. Doing sport/exercise and reading are not as popular as the two fields mentioned before. However, there is not much discrepancy as both sections reach approximately 72% and stand at the second.
The remaining aspects see a fluctuation, with the inconsistency in the rate of men and women. Shopping is primarily a female-preferred activity, with nearly 75% approval, whereas just only 30% of men. The opposite is true for accessing the Internet but this section has a little difference of men’s rate which was around a half. The most significant point is playing computer games, which has the lowest point among the others, with approximately 20% of men and 15% of women.
