This bar chart below shows the top six sports in the UK. It provides information about how many people participated in each sport across three different years, including Football, Swimming, Rugby, Snooker, Table Tennis, and Golf.
Generally, what stands out from the graph is that there was a significant upward trend in soccer activity, while swimming, rugby, and snooker saw considerable fluctuation over the period. Another notable aspect is that Golf did not attract as many respondents as Football.
Looking at the details, as regards the interest in football, it started at nearly two-fifths in 1995, and after that, there was a slight fall over the next ten years. At this point, the swimming sport started at just over a quarter in 1999. Despite rising rapidly to 30%, the figure then fell steadily by 2005. Next, rugby began at roughly one-quarter in 1995, but there was considerable fluctuation over the next ten years.
If we look at the favoring of snooker, it started at nearly a quarter in 1995, after which there was negligible rise to 30%. Table tennis had almost a quarter of supporters during the ten years. In 2005, there was a significant improvement to 30%. Fewer participants who completed the survey said they liked golf, at 15% in 1995. Subsequently, there was a gradual decline to approximately 15%, but this was a marginal increase to nearly a fifth in 2005.
