The bar chart compares levels of water in reservoirs across six Australian cities over a year period starting from 2009 October.
Overall there were six cities; Darwin, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra. All reservation areas in cities experienced a significant increase in water levels except for Brisbane and Darwin. The water level in Brisbane remained stable throughout the year, while figures for Darwin decreased slightly.
The reservoir in Canberra was the dominant one in terms of water level, it increased significantly from 75%to 98%. Followed by Sydney, in 2009 the level of water was 75% and rose slightly to 80%. Meanwhile there was a marked increase in water level in Perth and Melbourne from 40% to 60% and 25% to 35%.
In contrast, figures for water level in Brisbane remained stable at 55% throughout the year, while the proportion of water in Darwin declined negligibly 45%to 38%.
