The bar graph illustrates the reservoir water capacity in 6 major cities in Australia in October 2009 and October 2010.
Overall, there was an upward trend in the water levels in the reservoirs over the year. The two exceptions were Darwin, where the water level decreased, and Brisbane, which witnessed no change. In addition, Canberra had the highest figure in water storage levels in both years, while Melbourne had the lowest figure in 2009.
In October 2009, Canberra started at the highest figure with approximately 76% and rose to nearly 100% a year later. A similar upward trend was observed in Perth, where the water levels significantly increased from 40% to roughly 62%. Sydney underwent a slight growth of approximately 10% from 73% in October 2009 to over 80% in October 2010, whereas Melbourne’s reservoir storage levels grew from the lowest proportion on the chart in October 2009, at around 25% to nearly 40% in 2010.
In contrast, there was a downward trend in the water storage in reservoirs in Darwin, starting at 45% and decreasing to nearly 30% after one year. Notably, the water levels in Brisbane remained constant at 55% in both years.
