The bar chart illustrates the amount of water stored in reservoirs of 6 Australian cities in October of 2009 and 2010.
Overall, the water levels in each city’s storage increased after 1 year, despite the exception of Darwin and Brisbane. In 2009, the water level in Sydney’s reservoir exceeded other’s but Canberra’s figure took the lead in the later period.
In 2009, the water level in Sydney’s storage was almost 80%, surpassing Canberra’s by a small percentage, making it the highest level throughout the nation. Contrastingly, the water in Melbourne only reached over 20% of the reservoir’s full capacity, resulting in Melbourne’s figure being the smallest in this period. Other storages’ water levels, namely Darwin, Brisbane, Perth, varied between 40% and 60%.
In October 2010, the figure for Canberra rose to nearly 100%, exceeding other nations in water levels. Similarly, an approximately two-fold increase characterized Melbourne’s and Perth’s water levels as opposed to the 20% drop in Darwin’s reservoir water storage. The remaining city, Brisbane, leveled out at 60% after the 1-year period.
