The bar chart compares spending habits among six categories of European people in the country in 1998 and 2008.
Overall, notably, people spent more money on clothing and electronic goods in both periods, while expenditure on holidays, newspapers and cinema had decreased since 1998.
In 1998, electronic goods were the most popular spending category, reaching 16%.
Second place was taken by clothing, comprising 12% of people’s expenditure. Moreover, europeans’ spending on holidays were behind that on clothing. The proportion spent on newspapers and cinema was the same.
In ten years later, the expenses on clothing and electronic goods increased and remained the dominant trend. However, there was a considerable fall of spending on holidays and reating out. Furthermore, people were buying far fewer newspapers and cinema tickets than they used to in 1998.
