The graph illustrates data about the proportion of inhabitants in two different countries, namely France and India in 1984.
Overall, it can be seen that the population of India was younger than that of France in 1983, with noticeably large percentage of people aged under 25. France, on the other hand, has a larger number of elderly people.
In India, there are nearly 14 percent of people were under 5 years old and each five-years age bracket accounted for an increasingly smaller proportion of people. By contrast, inhabitants in France were more evenly distributed across the age ranges, and around 7-8 percent in each five-years age cohort between the ages of 0 and 40. In elderly groups, which contained people aged greater than 70 years old, the figure for India was approximately 12 percent while that for France was only 2 percent.
Looking more nearly at gender, there weren’t significant differences between man and woman in terms of percentage. Under 70-years-old group in France had a balance similar to India, while the number of females over 70 ages was considerably higher than that of males.
