The illustration presents the various categories of milk-based products and the three global leaders in manufacturing them in the year 2012.
Overall, globally, milk production was the highest in the European Union, the same is true for cheese. Meanwhile, India ranked first in terms of total butler produced by a large margin, followed by the EU and the United States of America, respectively. Whereas, China leads in milk powder production.
Milk was the most popular dairy product, in which the region of EU manufactured approximately 142,000 Metric tons, which was roughly 20,000 metric tons more than India and far surpassed American’s yield of just over 90,000 metric tons. In addition, the figure for the country of Brazil was one-tenth of the total metric tons of cheese the European Union produced in 2012 at slightly more than 7,000.
However, India witnessed the largest number of butter production in the world with 4,500 metric tons manufactured, in second place was the EU, which had just under half of the similar figure, and third place was America with 810 metric tons. Moving on, China produced 1,200 metric tons of milk powder, New Zealand was just behind with 1,110 metric tons produced.
