The bar charts represent the number of people that got married and divorced from 1970 to 2000 in the USA and also their family status in 1970 and in 2000.
Overall, on the first chart the number of marriages slightly decreased with time and the quantity of divorces have experienced fluctuations but turned back to its original value. On the second graph the number of marriages in both years significantly prevail in comparison to others.
The number of divorces on the first graph reached its peak of nearly 1.5 millions in the 1980s and then began to fall, until reaching its initial value of 1 million in the last year. The amount of marriages was on the same level of 2.5 million in the first decade but then it began to plunge a little and in the 2000s hit rock bottom with the value of 2 millions.
The second bar chart shows that the percentage of people who had never married increased by roughly 5%, while the percentage of people who had married decreased by 10%. The number of widows do not change almost at all with the years, but the number of divorces sharply increased from about 3% to 10%.
