The given charts demonstrate comparisons between the world’s three operating systems (OS) and other systems over four years (2012-2015).
Overall, there was an upward trend in the percentage of OS1, OS2, but OS3 experienced no change over the period. Meanwhile, other systems had dropped significantly until 2015.
Taking a look at OS1 and OS2, these 2 globally shared systems went up from 2012 to 2015. A remarkable growth of 22% was seen in the proportion of OS1 in 2015, which was twice as high as its first figure at 20% in 2012. Similarly, it can be observed that the consumption of OS2 around the world slightly rose from 17% in the first two years to 18% in 2014 and 2015.
On the other side, the proportion of OS3 remained stable over the years, whereas other systems plummeted. In 2012, OS3 accounted for 15% but then slightly fluctuated between 10% and 12% in the next two years before climbing back to 15% in 2015. Meanwhile, 2015 witnessed a significant drop of 33% in the figure of other systems, which stood at 48% in 2012.
