The pie charts compared the global market proportion of three different operating systems with others between 2012 and 2015.
Overall, it is clear to see that the percentage of OS1 increased remarkably and became the dominant system by 2015, while the figures of OS2 and OS3 remained relatively stable. In addition, the share of alternative platforms declined significantly during the given period of time.
In terms of OS1 and other types of OSs, other computer operating systems (OS) made up nearly a half of all in the market, at about 48%. By contrast, OS1 accounted for a low proportion, at only a fifth in 2012. However, over the next three years, the latter rose steadily from 20% in 2012 to become the market leader at 52% in 2015. Conversely, there was a sharp decrease in the market presence of other OSs, as they ended up with 15%.
As for OS2 and OS3, the share of the former stayed virtually unchanged, at about 17%. Additionally, there was a slight fluctuation in the proportion of the latter, ranging from 10% to 15%.
