The given bar chart presents the information about electricity generated using renewable and non-renewable energy in the United States over a period of 10 years from 2009-2019.
The first chart shows the data of non-renewable energy used to generate electricity which is being measured in billion kilowatt hours. The major change has taken place in case of natural gas where the electricity generation have increased from 921 units to 1582 units in 10 years. In contrast, there is a decrease in the use of coal from 1756 to 966 units. Whereas petroleum and nuclear energy haven’t shown much difference in 10 years i.e., 57 to 40 units and 799 to 809 respectively. Renewables have increased from 437 to 720 units.
The second chart includes the use of renewables like solar, wind, Geothermal, Plant/Animal matter and Hydroelectric energies. Use of hydroelectric energy remained unchanged for 10 years which is of 273 units. There is very less change in use of geothermal and plat/animal matter i.e., they have changed from 15-16 and 54-68 respectively. The drastic changes were occurred in case of solar and wind energy. Where the use of wind energy has increased from 94 to 300 and solar energy have increased from 1 to 73.
