Overall, the carbon source (oil, natural gas, coal) was the main fuel for energy production.
Although the oil source experienced a significant drop from 52% to 39% in 2003, this source still retained the largest proportion in producing energy. In contrast to the downward trend of oil, the other carbon fuel showed a burgeoning increase. While natural gas rose sharply from 13% to 23%, coal use augmented
noticeably from 8% to 22% in 2003.
Regarding the developed resoures, this part experienced a significant decrease from 27% to 16% in total. Beginning at 22% in 1985, the nuclear use declined significantly to 8% in 2003. It is observed in the charts that the use of hydro remains unchanged in 1985 and 2003 at 4%, contrary to the increasing trend of other renewable resources.
