There are two charts depicting the proportion of energy produced from different sources. Both charts belong to the same country but represent different years. When comparing the years 1985 and 2003, it is evident that the percentage of energy derived from natural gas was consistently the highest, while hydrogen usage was the lowest. However, it is important to note that the usage of natural gas in 2003 was less than it was in 1985.
Looking at coal, the percentage was significant in 1985; to my knowledge, coal is not considered a renewable energy source. By 2003, the usage of coal had declined, which is a positive development for the environment. The same can be said for nuclear energy; while it is also not a renewable source, the charts indicate that the usage of nuclear energy rose from 8% in 1985, even though it was still a non-renewable source.
Based on these observations, we can conclude that, when comparing the two charts, 2003 was a year with a higher overall usage of non-renewable energy.
