Overall, food declined dramatically compared to 1965; on the other hand, the ‘other’ category increased slightly. Meanwhile, if we look at the healthcare proportion, it saw significant growth. Furthermore, housing experienced a striking increase.
Beginning with food, the drop is dramatic; in 1965, it decreased from 35% to 15%over the period. Whereas, housing showed a slight rise from 30% to 35%. In contrast, healthcare experienced substantial growth; it rose from 15% in 1965 to 25% in 2015. While transportation showed marginal growth compared to 1965, from 5% to 15%.
However, ‘other’ experienced a slight rise from 3% to 5%. Lastly, clothing showed a dramatic drop from 12% to 5%.
