Overall, rainfall in Brasilia declined sharply during the first half of the year before rising again towards the end with the highest recorded in December and the lowest in June. Meanwhile rainfall in Salvador experienced an increase that peak in May and slowly declining towards the end of the year. Rainfall levels in Salvador were higher than in Brasilia.
Looking first at Brasilia, the amount of rainfall in January was approximately 230 mm before falling steadily to around 220 mm in February and 130 mm in March. This figure then continued to decrease to 80 mm in April and 60 mm in May. reaching a low of 20 mm in June, the lowest figure in the chart. After that, the rainfall levels began to recover, rising from about 20 mm in July to 40 mm in August and 70 mm in September. It then increased substantially to 230 mm in November and peaked at 240 mm in the final month.
As for Salvador, it started at approximately 140 mm in January, which was roughly half that of Brasilia. In the following years, this city followed the opposite pattern, with rainfall figures rising from 150 mm in February to 220 mm in March and 260mm in April, reaching a peak of 340 mm in May. Thereafter, rainfall declined gradually to 320 mm in June and 280 mm in July. The figure then remained comparatively stable at around 160-180 mm for the rest of the period.
