The bar charts illustrate the average number of hours people in various age groups spent per day on four activities, namely work or study, leisure, household chores, and socializing, in 2000 and 2020.
Overall, the average speding time on work or study is the highest in both years among all age groups with people in the 26-45 age group having highest activity in this category. Average time spent on lesiure is relatively higher in 2020 than in 2000. Moreover, time spent on household chores and socializing is less in 2020 compared with time spent in 2000.
In 2000, adults spent average 8 hours on work or study which declined to average 7.5 hours in 2020. Similarly, older adults spent more time on work or study than those in the age group of 18-25 in 2000 and 2020. However, people in the age group 26-45 has the highest average time spent on work or study. In 2000, young adults spent 4 hours average daily on leisure, highest in this category in that year. Nevertheless, the figure increased to 5 average hours in 2020 but people in the age group 46-65 spent relatively more time on leisure among the three categories. Young adults (18-25) spent the lowest average time on leisure activities.
Average daily time spent on household chores was 3 in 2000 with a moderate decline to 2.8 in year 2020. The same figure for other two groups marginally dropped with a difference of approximately 0.5 hours.
However, socializing was the least popular activity among the four. The average daily time spent was considerabely lower for young adults from 3 hours in 2000 to 2 hours in 2020. Meanwhile, people in the age group 26-45 and in the age group of 46-65 also spent one less hour on average socializing in 2020 compared to 2000.
