The charts depicts the variation in the ownership of electrical appliances and the duration spent on housework in house in a particular country between 1920 and 2019.Overall,the number of electrical appliances users witnessed a gradual increase whereas the length of hours spent on housework dropped dramatically over the period.
In 1920,the most popular appliance used was a washing machines at 40 percent,followed by refrigerators and vacuum cleaner at zero respectively.However,the vacuum cleaners recorded a sharp increase until 1960 hitting 90% ,then a small rise until a peak at 100% in 2000.On the other hand, refrigerators recorded a steady increase to level with Washing machine in 2000 at about 100%.The rising trend in vacuum cleaners was kept until 1940 at 60 percent, thereafter it fluctuate peaking in 2019 at about 70%
The number of houseworking hours was the highest in the year 1920 at 50 hours per week.The length reduced steadily to 20 in 1960.A gradual decline was seen through 1960-2019 achieving 10 hours.
