The pie charts illustrate how the world’s water is distributed, whereas the bar chart shows the percentage of water used in three different sectors in three different nations (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Canada).
Overall, most of the water on earth is in the form of salt water. Fresh water is mainly available in the form of ice and glaciers. Water usage for agricultural purposes is higher in Egypt and Saudi Arabia; in Canada, it is more for industrial needs.
The pie charts show that a whopping 97% of the water on earth is salt water, while fresh water only accounts for 3%. In the distribution of fresh water, a major chunk of it is in the form of ice and glaciers, at 79%, followed by ground water and surface water, which account for 20% and 1%, respectively.
In Egypt and Saudi Arabia, a major portion of water (approximately 80% and 75%, respectively) is used for agricultural purposes, while the least amount of water is used in industries. In contrast, Canada uses most of the water for industrial purposes, at 80%, while agriculture uses 10% of the water. In all three countries, water usage for household needs accounts for just above 10%.
