Overall, much of the world’s water is made up of salt water. For fresh water, a majority of it is made up of ice and glaciers, with surface water being the least portion of it. Agriculture uses a great percentage of water in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Canada has Industry using more water.
For global distribution of water, salt water takes up the majority with 97% and fresh water taking up only 3%. Fresh water distribution has ice and glaciers taking up 79%,being the greatest portion, followed by ground water making up 20%. The least of fresh water is made up of surface water, which takes up only 1%.
Both Egypt and Saudi Arabia record the highest percentage of agricultural use of water (80% and 75% respectively). The domestic use of water makes up the same percentage in both countries, recording a little above 10%. Canada on the other hand, uses a greater portion of water in Industry with a percentage of about 80%. This is followed by domestic and Agriculture both recording approximately 10% and 8% respectively.
