Overall, at the starts of the period, car contributed the least to transportation in Bangladesh, while rikshaw was the most widely used mode. At the end of the period, it was observed that rikshaw still remained the highest, but bus and bike became the least preferred options.
In the year 2000, rikshaw made up 55% of transportation in Bangladesh, which increased by 10% points to make a rikshaw for 65% of transportation by 2016. The percentage of car users increased from 5% in 2000 to 15% in 2016, which was 10% more than the previous figure.
At the beginning of the period, bus made up 25 percent of all transportation modes in Bangladesh, making them the second highest mode of transportation. Moreover, in 2016 this estimate dropped to ten percent. The use of bike also contracted slightly, rolling off from 15 percent at the beginning to 10 percwnt at the end.
