The chart presents data on students at an adult education center taking various courses offered in 1985 and this year.
Overall, music appreciation, local history, and IT experienced dramatic changes during the period from 1985 to the present, while we cannot observe any significant difference in other subjects.
As we can see, in 1985, music appreciation and local history made up 8% and 15% of all courses, respectively. However, this year, those two courses have clearly disappeared and have been replaced by IT, which is the highest percentage course shown in the chart, at 27%.
By contrast, the other four subjects did not have much change. While the proportion of modern languages led the changes with a 7% decrease from 1985 to the present, art and cookery followed with only a 2% and 4% shift, and, more remarkably, fitness and dance still remained at 22% in terms of the percentage of students who participate in these classes.
