The pie charts illustrate how much time working adults spent on various activities in a particular country from 1958 to 2008.
Overall, there was an increase in the percentage of time spent on working, relaxing at home, traveling to work, and other interests or playing sports, while the opposite trend was exhibited in the proportion of going out with loved ones and sleeping. In addition, the figure for working was the highest over the period.
Concerning the prominent data, the percentage of time spent working and sleeping topped the pie charts at 33% and 32% in 1958, respectively. Followed by the proportion of time spent going out with friends and family, at 19%. Meanwhile, traveling to work was the activity that took up the least percentage of time in someone’s day.
Fifty years later, the percentage of time spent working remained the highest figure, at 42%, while going out with friends and family witnessed a gradual decline to the lowest figure, at 6% in 2008. Less time was spent on sleeping (25%), but more time was allocated for relaxing at home (13%). Additionally, travel to work and other interests or playing sports negligibly rose to 8% in 2008.
