The pie charts illustrate the proportion of five means of transportation that are chosen by students studying in the university in UK in two distinctive years.
To begin with, in 2015, students would opt to take private cars more frequently which accounted for the largest share about 40%, while in 2019, the number of students who chose to go to university by bus occupied the most, over one-third of the whole proportion, representing an obvious shift for students to commute more by public transportation since the amount of private car got a significant decrease to 25% in 2019 and the figure for bus traveling could be seen a sharp increase from 20% to 35%.
What’s more, there was also a slightly upward trend could be witnessed in the number of students who prefer to walk to school, rising by 5%. By comparison, the quantity of individuals going to study by subways showed a small decline, down by 5%, turning to the least favorable way among these choices. However, a same figure could be noticed in the proportion of bike, remaining at 15%.
Overall, students tend to transform their commuting ways from private cars to more eco-friendly transportation.
