The diagrams illustrate the percentage of people’s total expenditure on six distinct categories including holiday, clothing, eating out, electronic products, newspaper and going to the cinema in a specific European country in the years 1998 and 2008. Overall, citizens spent the largest share on electronic goods in both years. However; the proportion of expenditures on newspapers/magazines and going to the cinema was the smallest over the period.
As can be seen in the bar charts, in 1998, people in this European nation spent the largest shares of their total spending for electronic goods and clothing, which accounted for 16% and 12%, respectively. Moreover, electronic goods and clothing still comprised the highest percentages of the expenses in the Europe country which increased to 20% and 18%, respectively.
It is noticeable that the share of eating out allocated by the people in the region was unchanged, reaching 6% in both 1998 and 2008. In 1998, the spending that was used by people for newspapers/magazines and going to the cinema accounted for 3%. Compared to 1998, the proportion of expenditures on newspapers/magazines and cinema experienced a significant decrease to 1% in 2008.
