The bar charts give information about the average protein and calorie intake compared with ideal levels in four different regions.
Overall, it is discernible that residents living in North America consume the most protein and calories, becoming the only region that exceeds the ideal amount. Notably, most protein intake originates from animal sources in all areas, except for India.
Looking first at the average protein consumption, the average individual in North America consumes 62 units of animal protein, which surpasses that in Latin America by a two-fold gap and those in East Africa and India by a four-fold disparity, ranging from 13 to 16 units. Meanwhile, all regions have a relatively similar average of other protein intake, registering at around 13 to 18 units. Only North America records a higher average of protein consumption than the recommendation of nearly 70 units.
Regarding the average calorie consumption, the average calorie intake in India is recorded at 2000, slightly lower than that in East Africa by 300. In contrast, people in Latin America consume a greater quantity of calories, registering at nearly 3000, just under the ideal level by roughly 100. Finally, the calorie consumption in North America reaches the highest level, about 3500, which is far greater than the suggested amount.
