The bar chart compares the percentage of reservoir water levels in six Australian cities during October 2009 and October 2010.
Overall, all the cities experienced an increase in water levels during the period shown, with Canberra and Perth recording the largest increases. Darwin was the only city that experienced a sharp decline. Brisbane experienced no change.
Specifically, Brisbane remained consistent across the two years, while Sydney increased slightly before falling to second rank. Canberra also experienced stronger growth and eventually overtook Sydney to become the city with the highest water level in 2010.
On the other hand, Darwin drastically fell, almost halving its figure and to the lowest rank of the six cities. At the same period, Melbourne almost doubled the previous rate, becoming the leader in 2010. Perth demonstrated the same trend but with even bigger figures, displacing Darwin and Brisbane to rank third.
