The given chart compares five types of energy consumed ( oil , coal , gas , nuclear power and other renewable sources ) in the UK and the USA in the years 2000 and 2006 .
Overall, UK and USA consumption fluctuated among types of energy throughout the years mentioned. Gas energy showed a massive increase , on the contrary, coal consumption decreased dramatically for both the USA and the UK . Firstly , the UK was dependent mainly on Oil by 27% percent and Coal by 30% in 2000 . Coal consumption dropped to almost 25% , while Oil rose slightly to reach 30 % in 2006 . Gas witnessed a huge rise from 25% up to 39 % from 2000 to 2006 . nuclear power per cent rose as well in 2006 by roughly 7% .
Secondly , the USA consumed more Oil in 2000 than any other source by 38% . The consumption increased by 2% in 2006 . Gas consumption declined by 10% from 2000 to 2006 .Not only Gas consumed by the USA was lower by 10% in 2006 but also nuclear power and other renewable resources fell , but the total consumption of both is less than 10 %
