The chart above shows the amount of protein and calories people consume in the surveyed countries: India, East Africa, Latin America, and North America. It can be observed that North America surpassed all four countries in terms of the intake of protein and calories, which a person consumes. In stark contrast, India had the lowest figures for protein and calorie consumption. Interestingly, the amount of animal protein consumed was generally less than other proteins, except for India.
North Americans consumed the most protein and calories compared to other countries surveyed, with the figures being 80 (approximately 61 being other protein and 19 being animal protein) and 3500. Latin America came in second with the total average intake of protein being only 35 less than North America. What’s noticeable is it’s calorie intake was roughly 2550 calories, 50 calories less than the average.
On the other hand, East Africa has an average protein and calorie intake of a mere 30 and 2050, compared to the two leading countries, its intake of the two macronutrients is substantially smaller. However, what’s fascinating is the fact that East Africans have a balanced diet of animal protein and other proteins, with the rates being roughly the same. India has the lowest calorie and protein intake, with only 3000 calories and 30 protein on average. What’s salient about India’s consumption habits is that they consume more animal protein than other proteins as opposed to other countries.
