The bar charts compare two genres of TV programmes in terms of proportions of males, females and four age segments, who watched these shows in Australia.
Overall, reality shows were by far the most popular TV genre across nearly all age and gender groups, whereas game shows attracted the lowest number. Additionally, while female viewers preferred reality shows, male audience showed a noticeable preference for game shows.
Turning to gender distribution, female viewers demonstrated a greater interest in reality shows than in game shows, with figures standing at 70% and 60% respectively. In contrast, men watched more game shows at 60%, which was higher than the percentage for reality shows by about 25%.
Regarding the age groups, identical and contrasting proportions were recorded. In particular, the youngest individuals showed identical watching percentages for both TV programmes at 50%. Similarly, the same pattern was reported in the oldest group, where the difference between reality and game shows was almost zero, at just 1%. However, the other two middle aged categories tended to watch reality shows, with figures clearly higher than those for game shows, reaching 60% and 66% for reality TV and 38% and 40% for game shows.
