The pie chart illustrates water usage in various categories and the bar chart delineates how much water was consumed for different purposes in households in Australia in 2004.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that residential housing accounted for by far the largest proportion of water consumption in Australia, while the opposite was true for others. Residents dedicated the most water to bathrooms, then gardens, toilets, kitchens and lastly washing clothes.
Regarding the pie chart, houses represented the most notable figure for water usage at 57%, followed by apartments, industries and businesses at 13%, 11% and 10%, respectively. Other categories’ water consumption recorded the least prominent percentage of 3%, which was precisely half of government’s at 6%.
Looking next at the uses of residential water, bathrooms constituted the most considerable proportion at nearly 30%, with garden’s data trailing slightly at around 27%. Exactly 20% of all water was allocated for laundry, followed by toilets at 15% and finally kitchens at only 10%.
